In the harsh chill of January, art aspires to hopeful futures and brighter days. OCAD U in partnership with Union presents this installation as a metamorphosis. Featuring six OCAD U, alumni, faculty, and students in a trellis-inspired garden of contemporary art, this exhibition explores the theme of ‘Transformation’ through a wide range of art practices that employ oral and natural imagery to visually stimulate and thoughtfully engage Union visitors.
Returning to an age-old theme, the artists included in the exhibition look to our varied relationships with nature and the natural world as fundamental ways of thinking about the role of art and the imagination in creating, or remembering, new worlds. Through self-conscious acts of representation, these works invite us to think about an individual’s relationship with beauty and nature as a primary means of transforming everyday life.
These works transform Union Station into an immersive colourful environment, vibrant, lush and ripe with possibility—in order to refresh, revitalize, and re-energize travellers.
