A showcase of Toronto Made talent, live at Union Station
Every city has its own personality – its own charms, attraction, and talent – as a result of the people who live there.
Ontario’s capital city is home to a beautifully diverse population, including a great number of people who have chosen to re-locate from other parts of the country and globe. Many Torontonians travel through Union Station, Canada’s busiest transportation hub, on a regular basis. This makes Union an ideal meeting place for TD Music Fridays: A showcase of #TorontoMade talent.
You don’t have to be born – or even live – in Toronto to relate to #TorontoMade. Toronto Made is for those who have been touched by the city, who have found inspiration or opportunity there, and who love the new discoveries it offers around every corner. We shape our cities as our cities shape us.
TD Music Fridays, taking place from Friday October 7 through Friday December 9, between 4:30 – 6:30pm at Union Station, is a showcase of #TorontoMade talent. Each week, a selection of artists who have found their inspiration, stories or sounds in Toronto will share their music on stages popping up in different parts of Union.
The series launches Friday October 7, with a performance by Alysha Brilla, an award-winning Indo-Tanzanian Canadian musician, producer and community organizer who recently released her third album, titled Human, to positive reviews. Alysha creates music and art that aims to unite people, and we are excited to feature her and her band, The Brilltones.
The following week, Friday October 14, Coalition Music will present a number of rising independent musicians who have participated in their many fantastic programs. On Friday October 21st, Honey Jam will present six stellar talents who have previously performed at the annual all-female, multicultural, multi-genre showcase, including pHoenix Pagliacci, Jordan Alexander, and Augusta Ray. We’re also pleased to share that on Friday November 4, Tanika Charles – one of Canada’s most talked-about young soul singers – will be featured. The Edmonton-raised vocalist has performed on stages across the country this year, supporting her fantastic full-length album, Soul Run.
