Our Indigenous Spotlight Series highlights top contemporary Indigenous music artists on the scene.

Acclaimed Indigenous musician and producer Marc Meriläinen (Nadjiwan) joins sons Fox and Cole in Kind of Sea, a family-driven project blending 70s disco with modern electronic flair. Born during pandemic sessions for Nadjiwan’s Star Nation, the trio’s experimental instrumentals evolved into a full creative identity.

Fox (drums) and Cole (bass, keys, engineering) bring fresh energy, while Marc’s signature guitar and vocals tie it together. Featuring select collaborators, the debut EP delivers infectious grooves and a unique origin story, making Kind of Sea both a celebration of family legacy and a vibrant invitation to the dance floor.
