Janice Jo Lee (she/they) is a nationally-touring queer folk musician based in Tkaronto. She is a contemporary folk-roots-jazz composer and band leader. Janice is a hard femme, radical, comedian, truth-teller and satirist. She is interested in using art to build flourishing communities based in justice and joy. Lee’s new album Ancestor Song launches in 2023. The songs are concerned with the Earth, capitalism, destruction and healing. The melodies are funky, jazzy, with memorable musical themes. Their 5-piece band plays with deep groove, disarming candour and poetically-rich lyrics. They conjure warm energy, leaving audiences aglow.
