Already well-known to Canadian global and Latin music lovers as her Afro-Cuban alter ego, Lady Son, Lady Yetunde has embarked on a new phase in her creative journey, taking greater artistic risks as she follows her passion for Cuban music back to its original roots in Africa. Incorporating diverse pan-African genres and styles such as highlife, Afrobeat and soukous with Western funk, R&B, and pop, Afrika Libre is inspired by influences such as Fela Kuti, Papa Wemba, Folli Ipupa, Peter Gabriel, James Brown, Youssou N’dour, Cheb Mami, Khaled, Angelique Kidjo, and King Sunny Ade.
