The Newly formed Selah Quartet is composed of members who have played with Canada’s prominent ensembles such as Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

The name Selah is derived from Old Hebrew, mainly used as a musical gesture. It means to pause and to listen, which is often interpreted as praying, or being connected. As the name suggests, SQ is humbled to be given an opportunity to nurture their community through music, and give performances in Toronto through various outreach projects such as a fundraising concert for the children of Haiti and outdoor concerts in the Midtown area. SQ aims to connect to a diverse audience through the universal language of music by performing in a variety of environments and offering deeply nuanced programs.

The SQ can be found rehearsing and enjoying music together on a weekly basis in the midtown area. Its members are redefining their own calling to the musical profession, and finding new meaning in communicating with music. Selah Quartet served as Artists in Residence for the Korean Canadian Symphony Orchestra for the 2020-2021 season.

This program is in partnership with Big Lake.
