Returning to Union – Formed in early 2019, SHOUT! the band began as a small brass band in Toronto, made up of students from the University of Toronto and Humber College. These early “guerilla concerts”, featuring only a handful of horns, quickly exploded as the band grew in both size and popularity, with SHOUT! expanding to a full 12 piece band, garnering international attention for their iconic sound and infectious energy. SHOUT!’s iconic sound comes from shared roots, and love for New Orleans music and culture, mixed with a diverse and eclectic range of musical and cultural backgrounds; combining the roots of jazz and western popular music, with harmonic and rhythmic techniques borrowed from all across Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and South America.
