Site Crew:

You’re the reason the event looks good and runs smooth. You’re the boots-on-the-ground crew keeping the energy high, the site clean, and our food vendors supported.

 The Daily Hustle

  • Keep it Fresh: Quick-response cleaning (sweeping, mopping spills, and bussing tables) to keep the seating areas clean and comfortable.
  • Vendor Support: Be the hero for our food vendors – manage water jugs, keep the service area organized, and make sure their setup stays functional. Vendors are responsible for their own booth cleanliness.
  • Waste Management: Stay on top of trash levels and move bags to the main bins before they overflow.
  • Site Watch: Keep an eye out for random issues like leaks or power glitches so we can fix them before they become a problem.
  • Supply Check: Don’t let the cleaning supplies run out—flag the lead when stock is getting low.

Guest & Event Support

  • Main Contact: Help out the public with the basics (where the bathrooms are, what time we close, etc.).
  • Event Flex: Pitch in on weekly programming events or special activations.
  • Weather Pivot: If the weather turns, help the team secure the site (umbrellas down, cushions away) to keep everyone safe.

What We’re Looking For

  • Main Character Energy: Someone who takes pride in the site looking top-tier and staying busy.
  • Clear Comm: We’re big on communication. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or have a question, just hit up the Site Lead—they’ve got your back.
  • Active Role: You’ll be on your feet and moving; this isn’t a “sit-behind-a-desk” kind of gig. Always looking to jump in where needed.
  • Problem Solvers: Notice a mess? Fix it. Notice a leak? Report it. Simple as that. Strong situational awareness.

Greeter:

The First Impression ⚡️

The Vibe: You are the welcoming face of the event. You’re the first person guests see and the “eyes and ears” for our Site Supervisor. You set the mood, keep the flow moving, and make sure everyone plays by the rules so the vibes stay immaculate.

The Daily Hustle

  • Main Entrance Energy: Welcome everyone with a positive attitude. You’re the first point of contact and the person people look to for direction.
  • The Gatekeeper: Keep a sharp eye on the exit—alcohol cannot leave the site. This is a major priority.
  • Vibe Check: Gently enforce the house rules (e.g., keeping pets off the furniture) to keep the space looking and feeling good for everyone. Flag the Site Supervisor of any problematic situations or patrons.
  • Capacity Control: Keep track of how many people are entering. If the site is getting crowded, flag the Site Supervisor.
  • The Info Hub: Be ready to hype up our free programming, event schedules, and give basic directions (especially for Union Station). Knowledge guru of all site rules!

Safety & Support

  • See Something, Say Something: You aren’t expected to handle heavy situations alone. If you spot a medical issue, a mental health crisis, or someone who’s had a bit too much at the bar, relay it to the Site Supervisor for backup.
  • Bylaw Guard: Ensure our food and beverage space stays compliant with local rules by monitoring guest behavior as they enter. No outside alcohol is allowed in the space, and our fancy drinks can’t leave the site either.

What We’re Looking For

  • High Emotional Intelligence: You can read a room (and a person) quickly.
  • Communication Pro: You’re comfortable talking to strangers and can deliver “no” with a smile when it comes to site rules.
  • Situationally Aware: You notice the small details before they become big problems.
  • Reliable & Composed: You can stay calm and professional even when the site gets busy or stressful.

Site Supervisor: Operations Lead

The Mission: You are the primary point of contact for the Union Summer market. You lead the site’s operations, from logistics and safety to vendor relations. Your job is to keep the gears turning, manage the crew, and troubleshoot issues before they escalate. You report to the internal team, and you work alongside the Stage and Bar Manager to keep the ship upright.

Operational Oversight & Logistics

  • Site Flow: Manage the overall daily operations. Coordinate deliveries, large gear arrivals, and vendor line flow to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Vendor Management: Act as the main liaison for food vendors. Ensure they follow fire safety codes, public health standards, maintain their own spaces, and stay within their operational boundaries.
  • Propane & Supplies: You are the gatekeeper for propane. No tanks move without your sign-off. Coordinate with City Custodial clearing the service alley bins. All supplies are monitored by your careful eyes.
  • Reporting: Document the day. We need a detailed and concise EOD report covering site counts, incidents, damages (with photos), and any recurring vendor issues.

Leadership & Team Defense

  • Staff Support: Manage the Site Crew through your Site Lead. Ensure the crew is taking their breaks and staying hydrated.
  • Boundaries: Protect your team. Food vendors do not direct our crew; all requests go through you.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the Bar Manager for line management and waste issues; support the Stage Manager with any programming or artist needs.

Security & Crisis Management

  • Site Authority: Manage security for the “drunk and disorderly,” suspicious activity, or medical emergencies. You coordinate with Union Security for additional support as required.
  • Emergency Lead: You trigger the Site Closure or Evacuation Plan for weather, power outages, or safety threats. Connecting with the MOD, and ensuring the Social Media team is looped in to update the public.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Zero Hand-holding: You know how to manage a schedule and a team without needing a roadmap for every hour.
  • Thick-Skinned: You can handle vendor complaints and public incidents with a level head.
  • Logistics Minded: you see the “big picture” (deliveries, safety, flow) while keeping the details (paperwork, photos, reporting) sharp.

Can’t make it in person? No worries. Send your resume to info@torontounion.ca
